Wednesday - Advertising rep Rachel Watmore writes: "Tonight I will be getting ready and packed to set off to Leeds Festival tomorrow morning.
"This will be my fourth year at the festival and I can't wait! I'm looking forward to seeing The Killers, Rage Against the Machine, CSS, The Ting Tings and Bloc Party but not looking forward to sleeping in a tent for four nights!
I'm hoping for some sunshine this weekend but think it's very unlikely to happen- at least I will be armed with my waterproof and wellies."
Tuesday - Assistant editor Bob Hart writes: "I'm planning another of my epic nights in front of the stereo, courtesy of Grantham Library.
"For just 50p each I've been able to borrow The Essential Michael Jackson (the soundtrack to my youth), Peter Gabriel's greatest hits (brilliantly daft), Revolver by The Beatles (which brings back university memories) and the first Guillemots album (the kind of pretentious art-rock I favour these days).
"Not sure I'll get through it all tonight, but I'm going to have a go ..."
Monday -Chief reporter Jo Hall writes: "Tonight I will be popping in a DVD on the recommendation of work colleagues Neil and Leanne.
"I'll be watching Superbad, starring Jonah Hill and Seth Rogan.
"I've been told it has some rather fit men in it including a guy called 'McLovin' who apparently is just my type. So it should be good."
Friday - It's an exciting Friday night for the Journal's ad department.
Ad manager Lisa Williams and administrator Angela Matthews are off to a barbecue where they plan to imbibe a heady mixture of Lambrini and Martini cocktails.
Meanwhile, Rachel Watmore and Claire Browning are getting mentally prepared for the McFly concert at Belvoir Castle tomorrow night.
Rachel said: "We'll be taking our picnic along, and our umbrellas just in case."
Thursday - Advertising representative Emma Anthony writes: "Tonight I'm getting ready to go to the V Festival in Staffordshire.
"I'm travelling there in my 1966 split-screen VW camper and I'm looking forward to seeing all sorts of bands including Muse, The Kaiser Chiefs, The Hoosiers, Stereophonics ... and Girls Aloud."
Wednesday - Sports reporter John Burgess writes: "I am going out on my mountain bike tonight in an effort to regain some of my fitness, that has been on the decline for a few months now (to say the least).
"My former days of riding several hundred miles a week are still a long way off, but you have to start somewhere.
"Once I feel I am regaining some of the old sparkle, I will dust off the road bike in readiness for a serious winter's training.
"Who knows, I may be back racing next season. But if not, at least I will be a few pounds lighter."

- Monday - Chief reporter Jo Hall writes: "Tonight I'll be watching highlights of yesterday's Community Shield match between Manchester United and Portsmouth at Wembley.
"Fortunately for me, I was able to be at the match and, being a United fan, it was obviously the right result, but it's always interesting to re-watch it on television to see incidents you can't see from the stands.
"It'll also be nice to watch the Portsmouth penalties again!"
- Thursday - Reporter Neil Graham writes: "Tonight I will be watching the highlights of the final test between England and South Africa.
"Whenever I watch sports highlights I try to avoid finding out the result beforehand so I've got a bit more to look forward to but the noisy buggers in the office have already given the game away.
"I'll still be tuning in though to watch those wickets fall."
- Wednesday - Reporter Marie Baker writes: "Tonight I'm off to the Goose In The Bank with a friend for some bargain grub and a glass or two.
"Two meals for a fiver...you can't go wrong!"
- Sports Editor John Burgess writes: "Tonight I am going up to The Meres to watch Grantham Town take on Stamford Town in the Lincolnshire Shield semi-final.
"I was quite impressed with the Gingerbreads' 2-1 quarter-final win over league rivals Brigg Town on Saturday, coming back from one nil down with two second-half Rob Lund goals.
"Also impressive was another youngster, Jack Pemberton, and hopefully Grantham will have some of their more experienced players back on the pitch tonight.
"Stamford should offer a sterner challenge - and hopefully bring a few supporters to swell the crowd - but you never know, perhaps the Gingerbreads could have their name on a trophy this season. And maybe more to come?
"Kick-off is 7.45pm. See you there - so you can say you were there!"
Advertising representative Emma Anthony writes: "Tonight I'm hoping to pop into my local The Fig Treet at Barkestone le Vale for its regular comedy night the Chuckle Club.
"On the bill tonight is Irish comic Caimh McDonnell, Martin Plant, Killian Monson, Roland Gent and MC Danny Deegan.
"It's always a brilliant night with top comedy acts so if you're up for a laugh the night starts at 7pm."
Reporter Marie Baker writes: "Tomorrow night I'll be spoiling myself rotten at Thoresby Hall Spa.
"I'm to be my cousin Bek's chief bridesmaid in three weeks, so we're heading to the spa with a few friends and family to chill out and natter about the wedding.
"I'm really looking forward to an experience shower, which apparently feels like a tropical rainforest waterfall.
"And I can't wait to put my feet up by the pool and relax with some champagne and strawberries. Heaven!
"Then on Sunday, I'm dragging myself out of bed at some ridiculous time of the morning, packing the car up and heading to Bottesford car boot to flog some bits and bobs."
Thursday: Assistant editor Bob Hart writes: "It's raining outside so I think a night in with the stereo beckons.
"I'm currently obsessed by the Black Kids album Partie Traumatic, so I dare say I'll give that a play at some point in the evening.
"I've also been feeling strangely nostalgic for my student days just recently so might play a couple of old favourites by bands like Morcheeba, Portishead and Massive Attack for old times' sake."
- Wednesday: Reporter Marie Baker writes: "My mum's birthday is coming up so tonight I'm treating her to a meal out and a film.
"We'll be heading to The Atrium first of all for an amazing Black Rock steak, chunky chips and, to make myself feel a little better about the calorie fest, a salad.
"Then we're heading to the Reel Cinema to watch eye-candy Christian Bale in The Dark Knight, while chomping our way through a bucket of popcorn.
"And it's a bargain on Wednesdays as tickets only cost £3.50...but I won't tell my mum that!"
- Tuesday: Reporter Neil Graham writes: "Tonight I will be returning home from a hard day's work to find a load of strangers in my house speaking Polish.
"My better half has been learning the language for the last couple of months and she has volunteered to host today's lesson.
"She's invited me to sit in but I'm planning on surprising them all by learning the Polish for 'I'm off down the pub' before I get home. Do widzenia (goodbye)."

"It's a lovely a la carte restaurant and I'm treating my lovely wife Tracy to a fine three-course meal.

- Thursday: Chief reporter Jo Hall writes: "Tonight I'm off to the Guildhall in Grantham to see their Thursday film showing.
"Tonight's movie is Kite Runner. It was a happy coincidence that it was showing tonight as my mum's just been reading the book and hasn't been able to put it down.
"I've not had chance to read it yet, but I'm hoping the film will be just as good as she says the book is.
"The film starts at 7.30pm and entry is £3.50."
- Sports reporter John Burgess writes: "Despite the nice weather, I won't be going out on my bike tonight as I will be glued to the television, watching today's Tour de France stage which finishes on the notorious Alpe D'Huez.
"Following Mark Cavendish's retirement from Le Tour, hopes of another British stage win are looking slim.
"But interest in the race is still high as the top three riders are separated by a matter of seconds in one of the closest races for years.
"Today's stage could well decide who stands on the final podium in Paris on Sunday.
"But unless the Schleck brothers, Kohl, Menchov, Sastre and the other top contenders attack pre-race favourite Cadel Evans relentlessly and gain minutes, I fear the Australian could effectively seal overall victory today.
"There is still a crucial final time trial on Saturday - but unfortunately for his rivals, Evans is favourite to win that."
- Tuesday: Sales manager Fran Dover writes: "Tonight I'll be watching episode three of Bone Chasers on BBC1 at 9pm.
"Then at 10pm I'll be jumping over to Living to watch Private Practice, which is a spin-off from Gray's Anatomy.
"It's episode two and it was very good last week so I'm looking forward to it."
- Monday: Reporter Marie Baker writes: "Tonight I'll be soaking up the last of the day's rays in my back garden.
"I'll be popping a couple of bangers and a burger on the bbq and I may even crack open a bottle of wine.
"We should all make the most of the sun while we can!"

"I've won about £250 so far and everyone at the Journal has been really nasty to me so I've had to buy bacon butties and cakes so they'll forgive me.

"I have heard the songs so many times over the past few weeks I will be strongly resisting the urge to jump up on stage and join in, shouting: There's a scarecrow in a meadow and his name is Tattybogle - he is made out of sticks and straw.

"When not in the office I'm usually to be found out on the bike, so they've asked me to share a bit of my knowledge.
"I was a Scout myself and think it's a fantastic thing for young people to get involved in.

- Friday: Chief reporter Jo Hall writes: "Tonight I'll be busy preparing my picnic for tomorrow night's Spitfire Prom at Belton House.
"I'm sure everyone who's going will be praying that the sun shines but I'll be digging out my wellies just in case."
- Thursday: Chief reporter Jo Hall writes: "Tonight I'm off to Belton Park Golf Club to meet the ladies' section, whose AM-AM competition today is expected to have raised around £1,000 for the Journal's ABC Appeal.
"Ladies' captain Josie Short chose to support the appeal when she took over the captaincy in November.
"Ladies have enjoyed many competitions and events and proceeds from their hard work in the half-way hut during club competitions will also come to the appeal. Thanks for all your support ladies."
- Wednesday: Journal editor Tim Robinson writes: "Tonight I will be at Grantham College for the final of the Rotary Young Photographer of the Year Competition 2008.
"I will be presenting prizes and certificates to the winners - and I'm really looking forward to seeing their photos.
"There has apparently been a really good entry from schools all over the Grantham area. And you can see the winning entries for yourselves on this website later this week when we'll publish a gallery of the very best."
- Tuesday: Ad rep Stacey Heaphy writes: "Tonight I will be getting my suitcase packed as I am going on holiday tomorrow.
"I am going to Aiya Napa, Cyprus with my boyfriend and my two friends for two weeks.
"I am really looking forward to going to the water park as it's the biggest water park in Europe although some of the slides look really scary!
"I will also be visiting the Troodos mountains, going on a dolphin safari and swimming round the famous aphrodites rock."

- Tuesday - Work experience student Elliott Shiels writes: "Tonight I will be playing with my dad's band, practicing for the "Big Beer Festival" in Folkingham (my village) in August. Me and my dad split drums, and he occasionally jumps up or as we call it 'let him off the leash' so he can do the lead vocals for a while.
"The name of his band is After Dark and the beer fest will be my first gig."
- Monday - Advertising manager Lisa Williams writes: "Tonight I'm going to be one of the sad viewers of Big Brother. I said I'd never watch it again, but I can't help myself.
"I can't beleive how many idiots there are in the world to put in there. After all the fighting on Friday I've got some new hate campaigns going.
"I'm also celebrating the fact that the football has finished, although I'm sure it will soon be replaced with another sporting activity."

"In the last couple of years we have worked with the club and their scheme to send shoeboxes full of gifts to Eastern European children at Christmas.
"Thousands of readers sent in gifts, which Rotary trucked over to Romania.
"We've always been pleased to work with the club and it will be good to meet them all."

"I'll be travelling down with my boyfriend in a camper van- providing I can find the tax disc first.

"Robin Ince, who has performed alongside Ricky Gervais on his sell-out tour, is the star attraction and he will be testing his act ahead of the Edinburgh Festival.
"It should be a great night and we'll probably have a cheeky drink just to be polite."

"France and Italy are fighting it out to stay in the tournament but I'll also be keeping one eye on the Dutch who have been brilliant so far.
"However, France have far too many Arsenal players and my colleague Jo Hall fancies all of the Italy squad, so tonight I will be cheering on the mighty Romania!"
Monday, 5.30pm - Sales Manager, Fran Dover writes: "Tonight I will be playing the new Virtual Villagers 3 PC game I got for my Birthday yesterday.
"I first downloaded Virtual Villagers off the net about two weeks ago and had a whole village named after all my work colleagues, who all lived well into their 70's.
"My son Bryan, 13, and I have become addicted to it and when we found out that there was a new chapter I just had to get a copy.
"Bryan and I will probably argue about whose turn it is to play it all night."
- Friday, 5pm - Sports reporter John Burgess writes: "I am going to see arguably one of the best, and certainly most popular, rockabilly bands on the British scene at the moment - Jack Rabbit Slim.
"The gig is at Greetham Village Hall, down the A1, near Oakham. Venue is bit tricky to find but it will be worth it I promise you.
"With wild singer Bob Butfoy and ace guitar man Darryl Ince, the band produce their own brand of what they describe as 'Sleazeabilly'.
"Support band is the Hot Chickens, a French outfit I first caught at Hemsby in May. Not really my cup of tea but I'm prepared to give them a second chance I guess. Don't like electric bass guitars - not for rockabilly anyway.
"My mates Martin and Robin will be DJing, keeping the usually large and enthusastic crowd jiving and bopping.
"Be there or be square . . ."
- Chief reporter Jo Hall writes: "Tonight I'll be having a much-needed night in to watch my favourite TV show Project Runway.
"It's getting close to the end of this season and tonight the designers are challenged to create an outfit inspired by art.
"This week will see one designer eliminated, leaving the finalists who will have to create a collection to be shown at New York Fashion Week."
- Reporter Neil Graham writes: "Gripped by Euro fever, I shall be watching the the do-or-die clash between hosts Switzerland and Turkey tonight.
"With England's failure to qualify, I like to pick a favoured team in each fixture and will go with my tried and tested method again tonight.
"As Switzerland will field at least one Arsenal player, I will be passionately behind Turkey. Come on Colin Kazim-Richards!"
- Reporter Marie Baker writes: "Tonight I'm heading to the Palace Theatre in Newark to see soul band The Commitments and I can't wait!"
"I thought I'd treat my dad to a night out as he's a big fan, too.
"I am a little worried that I'll get carried away when the band plays Mustang Sally and start bopping in the aisles like some crazed loony."
- Receptionist Sheila Bailey writes: "I'm going to spend the evening working in my garden.
"I've bought a couple of sunflowers today, so one of my jobs is going to be to plant them.
"I quite like gardening, although it's more of a necessity than a passion!"
- Thursday: Editor Tim Robinson writes: "Tonight I'm going to the end-of-show party for Terry Shelbourne's cartoon exhibition at Grantham Museum.
"Terry, the Journal's legendary cartoonist, has invited friends and family to the museum to mark the end of his A Life in Pictures exhibiton, which features Terry's cartoons from down the years.
"His gallery of work is absolutely fascinating, amusing and a total one-off.
"Loads of people have been to see it in the past few months and have relived some great moments in Grantham's history through the eyes of its most astute observers."
- Assistant editor Bob Hart writes: "Everyone at the Journal seems to be staying late at the office tonight, but a number of us are hoping to be home in time to catch The Apprentice on BBC1 at 9pm.
"It's the penultimate episode and the remaining candidates are due to be grilled by Sir Alan's henchmen.
"I'll be rooting for Lucinda, who seems to be the only one without a totally abrasive personality."
- Chief reporter Jo Hall writes: "Tonight I'm off to Rock City in Nottingham to see Guillemots.
"I've been told by lots of people they're brilliant live so let's hope it's a good gig."
- Field Sales Rep, Emma Anthony, writes: "Tonight I'm off to the comedy night at the Fig Tree in Barkstone-le-Vale.
Top comedians perform at these nights - a lot of them have even performed at the Edinburgh Fringe - so it should be a hilarious night out!

"But I'm going to try to keep it to a quiet one - I don't want to be too rough tomorrow!"

"I'll be watching it in the pub. Even though there's nothing riding on the match, it'll be interesting to see how our players perform.

"I'm rooting for Helene and think she could do well in tonight's task which involves renting out top-of-the-range cars."

"They're all getting on a bit and there are only two original members left, but it promises to be funk-tastic!"
- Chief reporter Jo Hall writes: "Tonight is the biggest night of the year, if not the last nine years, for me and thousands of other Manchester United fans.
"I'll be nervously sitting down in front of the TV to watch them play Chelsea in the first all-English European Cup final in Moscow.
"My colleague Neil and his girlfriend Julie will be coming over but if he continues with his typical pessimism before the match, saying United will lose 1-0, he might yet be uninvited.
"Hopefully tomorrow we'll both have big smiles on our faces. Come on United!"

"Tonight we will be networking and discussing local issues with local businesses.

- Reporter Marie Baker writes: "Although not what I'd call glamorous, tonight I'll be cooking my speciality for my mum and three-year-old sister Abbie - spaghetti bolognese. And for pudding I'm making rhubarb crumble and custard. I say making but what I really mean is taking it out of the packet and sticking it in the microwave! My mum and I will be catching up while I try to keep Abbie amused by fetching out every toy, pan and pot I can find."

"Then I head off to London tomorrow to watch the FA Cup Final and then on to a Brazilian club in Covent Garden where about 15 of us will enjoy Brazilian food and mojitos and plenty of dancing to live samba music."

"No, not a bondage event, but the 40th Hemsby Rock n Roll weekender in Norfolk.
"I shall be joining my mates from Grantham and around 3,000 others from around the world to see some of the top national and international rockabilly acts going.
"Headlining is my namesake, legendary Sun Records recording artist Sonny Burgess.
"Maybe more familiar to the masses, Dale Hawkins - famous for the original of Susie Q - is also a star billing.
"Eighties favourites Levi Dexter and The Blue Cats will also be sending the crowd wild.
"The fun kicks off tonight with The Sundowners and Small Town Giants at the Hemsby Party Nite.
"Put your cat clothes on, there's good rockin tonight...and tomorrow, and the day after, and the day after that!"
- Wednesday, 5.30pm - Reporter Neil Graham writes: "Tonight I will be popping along to the Guildhall to watch the 'world premiere' of Open Wide- the soon to be smash-hit comedy by the Grantham Dramatic Society.
"I'll be reviewing the opening night of the show. It features an over-sexed dentist hoping for a cosy night in with his sexy receptionist...which sounds just up my street."
- Tuesday, 5.10pm - Telesales Rep Claire Browning writes: "Tonight I'll be busy preparing for my 21st birthday tomorrow.
"I'm looking forward to my first driving lesson and am hoping for lots of pink and fluffy presents."
- Monday, 5.15pm - Field Sales Rep, Emma Anthony, writes: "Tonight I will be let free from work around 6ish then it's off home for a quick shower and then down to my local- The Fig Tree in Barkestone-le-vale for the monthly comedy night.
"It starts around 8pm so I will get there just in time to get a large glass of white wine in and then I can relax and enjoy three top acts from all over the country and laugh myself silly- hopefully!"

- Assistant editor Bob Hart writes: "I've tried to fight it, but I'm addicted - I'll be settling down at 9pm to watch The Apprentice. I'm still not quite sure why I like this show, especially considering the contestants are all utterly despicable and Sir Alan Sugar's business acumen is under suspicion.
"But tonight they're all off to Morocco to try their hand at bartering. It'll doubtless mean the wannabe executives will speak loudly and slowly to people who don't speak English and you can guarantee one of them will start droning on about giving 110 per cent - so I'm sure it's going to be excellent."
- Tuesday, 4.50pm - Field Sales Rep, Emma Anthony, writes: "Tonight I will finish work around 6pm then it's a quick dash down the A1 to Great Ponton to muck out my horse and take her out on the UK Chasers cross country course and make the most of this fab weather.
"Then it's back home to Barkestone-le-Vale for a nice walk down the canal with my boyfriend to my mum's house where I can watch Eastenders and have my tea- can't beat my mum's cooking!"
- Friday, 4.30pm - Chief reporter Jo Hall writes: "It doesn't sound very exciting, but tonight I'm catching a train to London.
"I'm not going down there to see a show or attend a glamorous star-studded party, but even better than that for me, I'm staying over ready for the start of my holiday tomorrow morning when I'll be catching a plane to Milan.
"After spending Saturday and Sunday in the world's fashion capital and trying not to break the bank on handbags and shoes, I'll be making my way to Venice, then to Rome and Pompeii.
"It's a hard life!"
- Thursday, 5pm - Reporter Marie Baker writes: "Tonight, I'll be pub crawling to celebrate winning the Journal bonus ball syndicate! My lucky number nine made it's debut last night, so I'll be getting the drinks in. We'll start off in the Goose for some cheap nosh to line our stomachs before heading elsewhere for a few. Cheers!
- Wednesday, 5pm - My evening will start with a dash, splash and dash – that's dash home from the office, a quick splash in the 'sheep dip' and then dash back to what to me often seems like a second home - the Guildhall theatre - where I shall have my 'luvvie' head on to review St Peter's Hill Players' opening night of Eric Chappell's comedy Theft.
I like Chappell's stuff – the comic element makes you feel good but there's always a bit of underlying pain in it, a bit like squeezing zits!
Really looking forward to it. Looks an interesting piece of casting.
I'll be in my favourite seat. Sat in it so many times this year I'm wearing a groove ... or two.
Somebody once asked me if you need a special skill to be a reviewer.
"An ability to write in the dark," says I.
But it's a smashing place to be. Lots of friends to say hello to ... including the volunteers who help out on show nights. If you've never been to the theatre, I recommend it as a great night out.
- Tuesday, 5pm - Journal Chief Sub-editor Graham Newton writes: "I'll be at home in front of the box cheering on Man Utd against Barcelona in the Champions League semi-final. As a Leeds fan I can't believe I just said that, but I am hoping for a Liverpool - Man Utd final
"I'll also be keeping one eye on the Grantham Town match. The Gingerbreads play at Nantwich tonight in their Unibond League Division One play-off semi-final.
"Here's to a successful end-of-season for Leeds, the Gingerbreads and Liverpool!"
- Monday, 5pm - Journal editor Tim Robinson writes: "Tonight I'll be attending the charter anniversary dinner of the Rotary Club of Grantham.
"It's a black tie do at Belton Woods - so I'm sure Grantham's great and the good will all be there.
"I will, however, be taping Paul Merton in China (Five, 9pm) - my Monday evenings have been a complete vacuum since the latest series of Curb Your Enthusiasm ended on More 4 three weeks ago."
- Friday, 5pm - Reporter Marie Baker writes: "Tonight I'll be treating myself to a couple of glasses of wine to numb the pain of the house cleaning extravaganza I have planned for tomorrow!
Then in the afternoon I might head to the cinema to watch chick flick Fools Gold and fill up on popcorn and chocolate.
I'll be grabbing the vid cam to capture all the fun of the St George's Day event on St Peter's Hill on Sunday, so don't forget to go online on Monday to watch the video."
- Thursday 5pm - Assistant editor Bob Hart writes: It's Thursday, so I'm off to the climbing wall at Grantham's Mere's Leisure Centre.
It's not a bad little wall and there are instructors there to help you get started if you've never climbed before.
There are a couple of routes I keep falling off but I'm determined to carry on trying until either I succeed or I do myself an injury ...
- Wednesday, 5pm - Chief reporter Jo Hall writes: "Tonight I'm off to the pub with my dad and cousin and my colleagues Neil and Toby to watch Manchester United play Barcelona in the Champions League.
"We're all massive United fans (apart from Toby) and are hoping to see United stroll to victory over Barcelona ready for the second leg at Old Trafford.
"My prediction for the game is 1-0 to United with a goal from Ronaldo.
"Neil, the most pessimistic football fan I know, thinks it's going to be 2-1 to Barca, but we'll get through to the final.
"We're desperately hoping for a United vs Liverpool final as it'd be the best thing ever to beat them in a European Cup Final (sorry to my Scouse mates!)."
